THE LANNISTERS HAVE NO ROOM FOR MISTAKES, which is why Jaime Lannister was punished for his. After the murder of King Aerys II Targaryen, informally known as the "Mad King", Jaime fled to Casterly Rock to avoid persecution for his crime. Despite doing what he believed was right, he knew that nobody would see it that way.

As hundreds of soldiers began searching for the King Slayer, Jaime was preoccupied with a bastard woman who'd recently been employed by his father within his childhood home. Having no knowledge of the man's crime (and the plethora of other crimes he's committed), Jaelyn Waters was able to be a friend that Jaime desperately needed.

The friendship was short-lived and swiftly turned into a secretive romance. Nobody knew of it, not even Littlefinger or the Spider. They had many dates and a fair share of long nights, where they talked and made love with only a sip of wine. It was blissful for the both of them and completely beautiful.

As time passed on, news spread that King Robert Baratheon was going to pardon Jaime for his crime, claiming "things happen in war". Despite now having a proper lover, Jaime fled his old home, leaving Jaelyn with no final words whatsoever. Jaelyn would wake to find an empty bed, completely void of any memory of him, and she'd realize she was late for her cycle for the second month in a row.

Roughly seven months would pass before Jaime would meet Jaelyn again, but only one of them were alive to remember it. Jaelyn laid in her chambers, formerly Jaime's, ice cold. Her skin was pale, her lips chapped and threatening to break away, and her eyes closed permanently. Childbirth is what many said killed her, but the nurses whispered that a mysterious man had come in and killed her right after she brought her child into the world.

He wanted to take his child home, he wanted to be something other than a slayer, but his sister forbade him. She called the child a mistake and found the child completely revolting. She decided it would be best to leave the child with their cousin at Casterly Rock, allowing Jaime to continue with his life.

The baby's cries were drowned out by the raging sea as Jaime left her behind, the guilt swelling in his chest and threatening to drown him above the water. It was Cersei who made him forget his pain, and it was Cersei that pushed him to be a monster.
